Munich Apple Store
The grand opening of Apple's Munich store drew huge crowds Saturday morning, with an estimated 4,000 visitors in the first few hours, according to ifoAppleStore. People began waiting in line as early as 1:30 a.m. local time, well before the 10:00 a.m. door opening. Apple gave away 2,500 t-shirts to the first visitors, as a promotion to fill the store on the first day. High-profile city officials and business representatives were invited to a VIP reception on Friday evening.
The location represents Apple's first German retail store, in a city with an abundance of shops offering expensive, luxury goods. The building organizes MacBooks and iPods on the ground level, while an upper level offers iMacs, Mac Pros, software, accessories, two Genius Bars and a kids area.

Look at that third photo. That HAS to be the most gorgeous backdrop to any Apple store - ever.

The Germans love good things with a passion. Look at that crowd. They are having a whale of a good time and it must be cold there. You just don't hear of Gateways, Dells, HPs, and the like having this kind of infection. It's just a matter of time MS...check back in 5 years. Corporations, who are slow to do anything except lose people's money, better take note. The NEW CEOs are already making it known--think Apple.

I live in Munich and went to see the store at 12.30 pm last Saturday. I did not expect THAT crowd. We Germans are usually a bit harder to excite than, say, the Americans, where huge cheering crowds are no exception at an Apple Store opening.
I thought I could just walk in and have a look around. Oh, how blissfully naïve of me... :) Might try again later this week. Suppose the queue has dissolved by then.

That nice building in the back on the 3rd pic is glockenspiel, which is one of the most popular attractions in Munich (other than the beer gardens!)-- This is right in the heart of the center of town, and is a great location full of tourists (who may be in town from far away) as well as Germans from all over-
