TaskPaper 2 adds quick entry, new search system

updated 06:05 am EST, Tue November 25, 2008

TaskPaper 2

Hog Bay Software on Monday released TaskPaper 2.0, the latest version of its information organization application. The update includes a new search system, quick entry window, drag-and-drop support, and keyboard shortcuts. A customizable theme system allows users to modify the presentation of each list. The company also integrated an additional sidebar and project toolbar that are claimed to offer quicker access to projects. The release is also claimed to offer general performance enhancements and improved AppleScript support.

The application is used to organize information into several categories, including projects, tasks, notes and tags. The to-do lists are saved in a text file, which can store thousands of entries, in a format that can be edited even without TaskPaper. The quick entry window allows users to add content while working in other programs.

TaskPaper 2.0 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and is available to download for $30.

    Needs iphone companion

Taskpaper is a great program - the interface is perfect. But until I can seamlessly manage my lists from both my computer and my mobile (iPhone), it is not so useful. These folks should hook up with the Evernote people - that would be the best of both worlds.

    New Look in 2.0

You might show some of the new user-selectable themes for 2.0. They look far better than the TextEdit look of 1.0 that you do show. I was thinking of migrating to Things because it looks so much better than the old TaskPaper and that makes the grim task of to-doing a bit easier. But the improved looks of 2.0 may change my mind. And commendably, upgrades are free for licensed 1.0 users. And I agreed with the previous poster, Evernote syncing between Macs would be absolutely marvelous.
