Apple TV software update 2.3 adds AirTunes streaming
Apple has released the latest software update for its Apple TV devices, version 2.3. Users can now stream music to other Apple TVs or Airport Express speakers via AirTunes. Third-party remote control support has been added, allowing the system to learn the signals from other manufacturers' products to use them alongside the Apple Remote. iTunes playlists that contain movies, shows, podcasts, or music videos can now be viewed from Apple TV. Another improvement allows the volume to be controlled while in the Music mode.

sweet update
shiiiiiiittttts weak!
Breaks Boxee
Don't install it if you've hacked your Apple TV and put Boxee on it. Boxee will not run, even if you try to reinstall it.
CrappleTV
Hey Apple.... Call me when you add DVR support!
We have a winner
That nearly completes my feature wishes. Streaming from AppleTV has just made my house-wide audio so much simpler to operate. Now, if I could operate it via Touchscreen, I'd buy another two tomorrow...
WTF?
"Another improvement allows the volume to be controlled while in the Music mode."
Umm, I would've expected that to be in the original feature set. Not being able to change volume whilst listening to music sounds like a huge omission, how come no-one's mentioned it before?
Airtunes
That's been in there for a while....
Netflix
I know that Apple will never do this, but streaming from Netflix would be nice.
I decided against the AppleTV and went with a MacMini and front row instead. Best choice I ever made.
With eye TV it is a DVR.
Streams movies from Netflix (now that netflix is Mac Friendly).
Listen to Music, review photos.
Very Happy
Re: WTF
I think because the audio purist would tell you that the receiver should control the volume, not the device (I know, you ask, then why are there volume buttons on the remote?).
