LG Prada II reaches UK with Bluetooth watch

updated 02:00 pm EST, Tue November 18, 2008

LG Prada II with Link

LG today marked the launch of the Prada II in the UK with news that the phone will come bundled with its own smart watch. Called the Prada Link, the wristwatch makes a Bluetooth link with the Prada II or other phones and serves as a more discreet method of monitoring the phone itself; it warns of incoming phone calls with vibration and caller ID while also flagging inbound SMS messages. The black-and-silver look appropriately matches the phone itself.

The UK version of the Prada II is the same as LG's reference model and adds a slide-out QWERTY keyboard to the touchscreen formula of the original. It also represents a major internal overhaul with 3G data over HSPA, a five-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and a full HTML web browser.

British stores should have the Prada II by the end of the month in a bundle with the Prada Link for roughly 475 ($712). LG has yet to detail most other releases, though it's known to support the 850MHz band for GSM and potentially HSPA, opening the door to a North American release. [via Shiny Shiny]
