iPhone gets '80s Mac game, Crystal Quest

updated 12:15 pm EST, Fri November 14, 2008

Crystal Quest for iPhone

Hands-On Mobile has ported a 1980s space-shooter game, Crystal Quest, to the iPhone. Crystal Quest was the first color game for the Mac, launched in 1987, and has been retrofitted with updated graphics. Players fly a spaceship collecting crystals in space, while simultaneously trying to evade enemies that attack from the sides of the screen. Gamers defend themselves with a combination of guns and smartbombs as they try to progress to the next level.

Crystal Quest arrives at the iTunes App Store for $5, and works with both the iPhone and iPod touch.

    Fun

The original game is responsible for many lost hours in my youth, along with the game editor it came with. I can see getting totally frustrated with this and ultimately throwing your iPhone/iTouch.

    I remember playing that

game on my MacPlus in black and white. I don't remember any game editor, though.
