Apple runs with App Store theme in new iPhone ads

iPhone Shazam, Loopt ads

Apple has posted two new TV ads for the iPhone, continuing the theme of tis Dilemmas ad, which promotes the usefulness of software from the iTunes App Store. The first of the ads mentions Shazam, which lets people identify songs playing on the radio (or elsewhere) using the iPhone's built-in mic. It is then possible to jump straight to buying a track or album from the Wi-Fi Music Store.

The second TV spot describes Loopt, a social networking app which lets people track the location of friends via GPS. Aside from pinpointing nearby people, the software also lets users share messages and status updates, and like many otheriPhone apps, call someone directly without signing out. Loopt is not unique to the iPhone however, being present on other devices such as BlackBerries.

    Catchy ads make...

the iPhone look like the best thing since chopped liver. I love the taste of chopped liver. Makes the iPhone seem like a device you can't possibly live without.

    Long liver the King

I'm not sure about chopped liver... maybe if it were on sliced bread. Anyway, the really cool thing is that the iPhone (through the App store and iApps) molds to what I need it to do. I put a voice recorder on, and I used Garageband to record some simple podcasts (one for stretching, one for weight lifting) that help me make the most of my workout time. When I run, I have audiobooks to make time pass quickly. This is how I configured my iPhone, and I imagine that everyone's iPhone can be configured to fit their specifics just as easily. Now if I could just use it when I swim laps, and if it could just bookmark my place in several playlists, and maybe copy and paste, it would equal bread. And if it had a better camera with flash and zoom, a video feature, and copy and paste... why it might surpass sliced bread AND chopped liver.
