Star Walk for iPhone/iPod
VITO Technology has released Star Walk, an interactive astronomy map for the iPhone. The map is used to identify stars, constellations and moon phases. Users are also able to tap on different heavenly bodies, and pull up details like celestial coordinates, relationships to Earth, vital statistics and more. The app can use GPS positioning to determine the immediate night sky, or else find a different one through manual location selection.
Also present is a "time machine" function, letting users view a star field from well into the past or the future. Despite GPS support, the app works with both the iPhone and iPod touch. It is available now at the App Store for $5.

great new idea
instead of starwalk, how about an app called PodWalk.
It enables the camera, and shows the ground where you're walking as you use the iPhone, over-which is drawn whatever other iPhone app you're running. That way, you can look down at your phone, and still see ahead to where you're going!
