Final CleanApp 3.0 ships
Drawing its public beta period to a close, Synium has released the final version of CleanApp 3.0, its combination uninstaller and system maintenance tool. The software attempts to purge a Mac of all the files associated with a given app, including the caches and .plists that are missed when simply trashing a program. Users can additionally archive apps that may be needed later.
Version 3.0 is said to be totally rewritten, with a cleaner interface layout, lower overhead and smaller memory usage, including during archival. A major new feature is the Logging Service, which keeps a record of the file system activity of programs, regardless of whether content is kept in hidden folders. Synium has also introduced a new widget which supports simultaneous searches, and System Protection, which can be used to manually or automatically protect key files and folders.
CleanApp 3.0 runs on Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, and is free as an upgrade or $13 new.
