Akvis Magnifier 2 adds lab editing, print options

Akvis Software has released Magnifier 2.0, the latest version of its utility for increasing image resolution. The company claims that its app produces better-quality images than bicubic interpolation, through the use of algorithms that also work to reduce noise and compression artifacts. The update adds support for lab-mode editing, and a print dialog is now offered in the standalone version of the software. New localizations include French, Spanish and Italian.

Users can enlarge images up to resolutions of 30,000 by 30,000 pixels, which equates to a 100- by 100-inch poster with a print quality of 300 dots per inch. The utility is available as a standalone program or a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop. Magnifier works on Windows or Mac systems, and can be purchased from the company for $130.
