Fujitsu intros notebook with live 2nd display

updated 09:00 am EST, Tue November 4, 2008

Fujitsu LifeBook N7010

Fujitsu today claimed a minor first for the notebook industry with an update to its LifeBook portables. The N7010 has a unique secondary, four-inch touchscreen that runs at the same time as the primary 16-inch screen. The second view gives users a way to control media playback or launch apps without intruding into the main display; built-in apps give users access to Windows' Quick Launch icons or to playing content in Windows Media Player, but users can also drag apps into view as though it were a standard secondary display.

Beyond its distinctive feature, the N7010 is positioned as a mid-range media center notebook with a Blu-ray combo drive that plays videos in their native 16:9 aspect ration on the 1366x768 screen. It also comes with a Mobility Radeon HD 3470 to decode video and HDMI output for HDTVs. Performance elsewhere is also suited to the category with a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB of memory and a 320GB hard drive giving most users enough storage.

The new LifeBook touts the same gesture-supporting trackpad as the P8020 and should be available starting next week at a base price of $1,499.

    Nice

Nice to have your icons on one screen entirely separate from your workspace. Now oonly if you guys made it a dyanmic touchpad and to replace the standard track pad. Oh how I would love thee.
