Moto ZINE ZN5 camera phone reaches T-Mobile

updated 10:40 pm EST, Sun November 2, 2008

Moto ZINE ZN5 at T-Mo

Motorola and T-Mobile today set the launch for the ZINE ZN5 on the American carrier's network. The candybar phone is Motorola's first true photo-centric phone and comes with a five-megapixel, Kodak co-designed camera with dedicated controls, autofocus and Xenon flash. Its T-Mobile guise lets users upload photos directly to T-Mobile's MyAlbum photo collections as well as through the MMS messaging and Kodak Gallery access of the reference version.

The handset is similarly close to the stock version in other respects, including its combination of EDGE plus Wi-Fi data, a proper HTML web browser and Bluetooth with stereo audio support. T-Mobile hopes to get users ready for shooting out of the box with a pack-in 1GB microSD card and 50 free hard copy prints from photos they send to the Kodak Gallery service.

T-Mobile will have the phone in stores beginning on Monday; official pricing is set at $99 when paired with a two-year contract, putting it below many similar-resolution camera phones from Nokia and Sony Ericsson.
