OpenMoko explores Android

Open source handset manufacturer OpenMoko is expected to unveil plans to adopt the Linux-based Android as early as November, under an alleged project name called GTA02. AndroidGuys reports that the project will launch on a similar handset to the Neo FreeRunner, offering users a 400 to 500 MHz processor, with 128MB of SDRAM and 256MB of NAND Flash, as well as A-GPRS and a four-in-one "laser pen".

The move echoes others' in the industry, with recent rumors indicating that both Motorola and ASUS will adopt the open source operating system for their devices.

Motorola is expected to adopt Android into its handsets, while removing four of its current platforms to refine the company's focus, and increase profitability. Motorola has recently slid from its long held spot as one of the top three handset manufacturers worldwide.

ASUS' plans are less clear, with some unsure whether the Asian hardware manufacturer will replace Windows Mobile as its operating platform with the Google-developer operating system.

    I'm exploring Android too

And no one has ever heard of me either. How come I don't rate the front page?
