iPhone apps: Oxford Dictionary, iMapMyRide, Cooliris

Ralph Lauren Collection

  • The Concise Oxford English Dictionary ($25) gives users access to the complete Oxford Dictionary right from their iPhone or iPod touch. The app also features Word Histories allowing users to look into where a word originated from, as well as a large database of live voice pronunciations.

  • Ralph Lauren Collection (Free) gives users access to current fashions, video highlights from the Fall 2008 runway show, and a look at what goes on behind the scenes with the Backstage Pass gallery. The application also features a local and international store locator so users are always able to find a store.

  • Cooliris (Free) displays news and media from various sources in a 3D wall layout. Information is collected from Yahoo, Flickr, Google and other various sites and then presented in a way that is supposed to make scanning through long lists of results quick.

  • iMapMyRide (Free) uses the iPhone 3G's built in GPS to track and map a users runs, walks bike rides, etc. The application also keeps track of distance travelled, time, pace and average speed. After a run is complete users may choose to look at their trip in Google Maps or Google Earth, post them to a blog or website, email them, or print them out for an event or group run.

  • PhotoFrame ($1) turns the iPhone into a digital photo frame. When the app is launched it access a user defined source of photos and uses them for a slideshow, it also shows a clock with the date at the bottom. The application overrides the auto-lock setting so the slideshow will continue until the user wishes to shut it off.
