ArchiCAD MEP Modeler
Graphisoft has released its latest building information modeling (BIM) tool, MEP Modeler for ArchiCAD 12. The software is designed to help architects integrate mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) models into projects. Users can create and edit 3D MEP networks from within the program, or import files from third-party applications via the IFC format. Visualizations can be created that use wireframe representations of the structures and color coding of the mechanical systems.
The MEP Toolbox includes straight segments of HVAC ducts, pipes, and cable trays. Connection components are also provided, including transitions, junctions, and in-line elements. The pieces of each system can be placed manually or automatically routed along a defined path.
The software detects and collisions and discrepancies on the floor plans and 3D views. Users can then work out the conflicts between the architectural design and the MEP network.
MEP Modeler requires ArchiCAD 12 and works on either Windows or Mac platforms. The program is shipping now, with pricing available from the company or resellers.
