ExecutiveSync coordinates Macs, backup

updated 04:25 pm EDT, Thu October 23, 2008

ExecutiveSync ships

Smith Micro says it is now shipping ExecutiveSync, a synchronization program for the Mac. Unlike iSync, which copies only basic information such as contacts, ExecutiveSync is used to keep files and folders consistent between multiple locations, including Macs, iPods, backup drives and remote servers. The program changes only altered files, attempting to keep them all as current as possible.

Users can also choose to synchronize according to timezone, and compare files in order to spot conflicts. To prevent any mistakes in this regard, the software can be set to archive older file versions. Destination servers can be running Windows or Linux as well as Mac OS X. ExecutiveSync costs $30, and runs on Mac OS X 10.4.11 or better.
