RocketRAID 2680 SAS HBA

HighPoint Technologies has introduced the RocketRAID 2680 SAS host bus adapter (HBA). The company focused on making an adapter with a small form factor measuring only 3.3 inches long, terminating at the end of the PCIe x4 slot. The company claims RAID 5 performance of up to 561MB per second read and 654MB per second write. The device features 8 SAS/SATA ports and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, and JBOD with scaling up to 128 devices if an expander is also used.

The 2680 integrates two internal Mini-SAS (SFF-8087) ports that can each support up to four drives. Two SFF-8087 cables are included with the kit, along with RAID management software and drivers for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac platforms. The RocketRAID 2680 SAS HBA will be available soon, however pricing hasn't yet been provided.

    just say NO to HP

Stay away from Highpoint Technologies for your Mac. They do not support their cards well at all. When 10.6 comes out they will likely tell you to buy a new card and not come out with new drivers. This happened with 10.4-10.5 transition with one of their cards that had been for sale up until a few months before Leopard came out. It was not a new card. And they refused to come out with a new driver for Leopard for it. Their support sucks. Just say NO.
