BatchOutput Server release

Zevrix Solutions has released BatchOutput Server, an automation program for Adobe InDesign. The software is configurable to automatically print or export to PDF and PostScript, by using network "hotfolders" to hold InDesign files for processing. Users copy content to the hotfolders that are watched by the program, and the actions are executed according to the necessary workflow settings. The program checks for basic problems during processing and skips any files that are missing links or fonts, set with an invalid page range, or contain other errors.

Users can set BatchOutput Server to send e-mail notifications that are triggered by certain events such as font activation, process start or completion, errors, unavailable hotfolders, and more. Several templates are provided for customized e-mail style. The program can automatically activate fonts, with support for both Windows and Mac formats.

Variable file output names can be generated according to page number, date, or script label. An XML processing engine allows output settings to be based on InDesign XMP metadata, allowing control over how certain tags should be used by using XMP Variables.

All activity is recorded in daily logs, allowing users to view the processes executed on each file. The program can also be monitored remotely from any computer on the network by using the Monitor application. BatchOutput Server for Mac OS X 10.4.2 or higher is available from the company for $500. A Workflow program is also included that enables file submissions from both Windows and Mac platforms.
