Pioneer ProDJ headphones

Pioneer Electronics on Thursday announced an addition to its ProDJ line-up of gear with the HDJ-2000 reference-grade headphones. Pioneer developed the headphones after receiving requests from professional DJs who demanded high-quality sound reproduction combined with a comfortable fit and durable design. To address these wishes, Pioneer used thick 35μm Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) for the construction of the diaphragm to provide a solid base necessary to create a powerful lower frequency response and get rid of unwanted resonance. Pioneer then filled each diaphragm with a large 50mm (nearly 2-inch) dome driver.

The headphones use a Mini XLR plug to connect the headphones themselves to the provided 10-foot long cable. A mono/stereo switch lets the headphones combine the audio signal into single-ear monitoring. The headphones' specs include a 36-ohm impedance, can take a 3,500mW maximum input and 107dB maximum output sound level. Frequency response ranges from 5Hz to 30kHz.

To isolate wearer's from ambient noise, the headphones use polyurethane low-rebound memory foam for the ear pads. The foam is sealed in Protein Leather for long-lasting durability. The frame is made of magnesium alloy to ensure both light weight and durable strength. When not in use, the headphones fold away and can be stored in a supplied soft carrying bag.

The HDJ-2000 headphones will launch in December, priced at $450. [via DJResource]
