22Moo ship Bluetooth dongle for iPhone, iPod

updated 04:05 pm EDT, Thu October 16, 2008

22Moo Bluetooth dongle

22Moo has released an A2DP Bluetooth dongle for the iPhone and iPod, the BD-906. The device connects to the 30-pin dock connector, and transmits a wireless stereo audio signal to Bluetooth headphones or speakers. AVRCP protocol is supported, which allows remote control of playback functions, along with independent volume controls on the front of the dongle. Users can still charge their device with a USB power passthrough.

The BD-906 is available from 22Moo for $60, and is compatible with any iPhone or iPod with a 30-pin dock connector. The package also includes a mini-USB charging cable and car charger.

    Strange

It's very odd that the iPhone doesn't support this natively. I hope it's just a software update away, though not a feature I'm in desperate need of.

Peter Bonte's idea of supporting a bluetooth keyboard is cool though and that would be very useful.

    Long missed by Apple

It is very odd that they have not implemented this yet. Remember we did not have this until Leopard and Apple has provided Bluetooth on there machines back for quite a few years. I know I have a PowerBook G4 15" 1500 MHz with it. Should be something they could migrate to the iPhone since it has Bluetooth. The OS just needs the protocol added. Also, Etymotic Research has made a dongle like this for iPods for their ety8 bluetooth earphones for quite some time. It may be locked for Pairing with the earphones though.
