Apart from the new colors, the handsets also get a doubling of their built-in memory to 128MB, along with a few new applications. The former will allow users to quickly respond to messages, upload photos and videos and otherwise interact with the popular social network, while the latter will allows them to pinpoint their location and show nearby points of interest, as well as offer directions and updated traffic reports.

Like the original Onyx black Centro, the handsets will support voice, text, IM and email messaging. The MP3-capable phone sports a 1.3-megapixel camera that can take photos and videos and store them to either built-in memory or a microSD memory card. On the 320x320 color touchscreen display, users can also watch Sprint TV channels that include CNN mobile, FOX Sports, The Weather Channel and Disney Channel.

At the same time, Palm introduced a few new accessories for the Centro line, including a leather slide case, leather flip case and vehicle power adapter, all due out on November 2. The new Centro smartphones will launch in some retail stores on October 19, and online, a wider chain store release and in Sprint Stores on November 2.
