Motorola Q 11

Motorola today quietly revealed its third major Windows Mobile smartphone update in the form of the Moto Q 11. The handset serves as a alternative to the Q 9 that drops the earlier phone's 3G link, keeping to quad-band GSM and EDGE in this particular version. In exchange, the new model gets Wi-Fi that boosts speeds above 3G and fills in coverage indoors. Motorola says it has struck a deal with Boingo to automatically link up with the provider's hotspots.

The new Q also makes up for its slower cellular data with a sharper three-megapixel camera and GPS that includes a data assist option. Media playback is as with most current Motorola phones and includes AAC/MP3/WMA as well as H.264, MPEG-4 and WMV clips.

Unusually, the Q 11 has appeared unattached to a more formal announcement and doesn't have a launch window, a price, or an associated carrier. The quad-band GSM would indicate a probably intro with AT&T or T-Mobile in the US, and potentially Rogers in Canada.
