LG KC780 adds 8MP camera

LG on Thursday unveiled the KC780, confirming earlier reports of the slim slider phone with a built-in 8 Megapixel camera and 2.4 inch widescreen LCD. LG advertises a Schneider-Kreuznach lens, which it says enhances clarity and sharpness of images. Also present in the camera are face and smile detection features, which puts the focus of the image on people's faces. The camera can also be configured to fire when a subject smiles, while a Beauty Mode removes subtle blemishes from a subject's face.

In addition to the photo features, the KC780 offers an image stabilizer, and the ability to take DVD-quality video. Users can also operate the camera over a Bluetooth connection with a computer to use as a web cam, and use Bluetooth to send and receive text messages through a computer as well. An integrated motion sensor also functions with games for the phone.

The KC780 was earlier revealed to be a quad-band GSM phone, but LG currently only has plans to release the device in Europe this November, with the CIS and Asia to follow thereafter. No plans have been revealed for a North American launch.
