Best Buy intros Blue Label

Electronics retail chain Best Buy on Wednesday announced the launch of its Blue Label range of products that have been developed based directly from consumer feedback. The retailer takes the input from its customers and works with hardware manufacturers to deliver what the customers want. Thus far comprised of just a pair of laptops based on feedback from customers about what their "ideal laptop" would include, the 13.3-inch HP Pavilion dv3510nr and 14.1-inch Toshiba E105-S1402, the Blue Label line is set to expand. Both notebooks are available exclusively through Best Buy.

Based on its research, Best Buy learned customers wanted longer battery life in a thin and lightweight package as well as an illuminated keyboard and larger screen sizes. Best Buy then collaborated with Toshiba and HP to bring such products to market, and either weighs in less than 5lbs and is less than 1.5 inches thick. The notebooks have a unique exterior design, sport a back-lit keyboard and come with a two-year warranty and 30-day Geek Squad support, since longer support was another request from the customers.

As part of the Blue Label initiative, Best Buy will focus on the customer interaction and will have Blue Shirt staff on-hand in stores to answer questions, demonstrate products and take customer feedback when it comes to developing future Blue Label models. Best Buy promises the Blue Label treatment will extend to products other than notebooks, though has not made it clear what is next in the pipeline.

Either Blue Label laptop can now be purchased online or in-store, with either priced at nearly $1,200.
