Acer intros 50K CR LCD

Acer on Thursday brought out the US version of the G24, a 24-inch LCD the company claims has the highest contrast ratio to date. The announcement was made at the same time as the company introduced its Predator gaming PC system, naming the G24 its ideal companion. The widescreen 1920x1200 display uses dynamic picture adjustment to reportedly reach a TV-like 50,000:1 contrast level and also touts a claimed 2ms gray-to-gray pixel response time suited to gaming.

The G24 also sports a 400cd/mē brightness rating, and uses Acer's CrystalBrite anti-reflective LCD screen technology and eColor Management. Connections include an HDCP-enabled HDMI, VGA and DVI inputs. Adjustment can be made horizontally and vertically up to 160 degrees, and the G24 is VESA certified for wall mounting.

At the same time, a Thursday report reveals Acer has announced the upcoming release of another new monitor, the limited edition Ferrari-branded F-22Bid. Like the Italian exotic automaker's products, whose badge and name it wears, the F-22Bid is exclusive and limited to just 500 units. Its specs are less impressive than the G24's, however, as the 22-inch screen has a resolution of 1680x1050, a contrast ratio of 20,000:1 and more modest brightness of 300cd/mē. It shares the same 2ms response time as well as the DVI, HDMI and VGA inputs.

While the G24 is priced at $400 and currently available in North America, no prices or US release dates are known for the F-22Bid. [F-22Bid via Akihabara]
