Netflix Starz, Mac support

(Updated with Starz TV info) DVD rental service Netflix and broadcaster Starz Entertainment on Wednesday announced a new partnership, one which will see Netflix offer access to the entire Starz library via Internet-connected computers, and the Xbox 360 when its enhanced interface launches later this fall. Specifically, the Starz Play broadband movie service will be included in all unlimited Netflix subscriptions, giving users access to the instant streaming of about 2,500 movies, TV shows and concerts.

Netflix subscribers should now have access to about 1,000 Starz Play titles via the Netflix website, accessed under a Watch Instantly section, with the content provider promising more titles soon. A live feed for the Starz TV network has been incorporated as well, though only the standard-definition version of the primary east-coast channel.

Netflix's current unlimited subscription plans start at $9 per month. A standalone subscription to Starz Play via Netflix should cost about $8.

As a part of its announcement, the company has also revealed that it is working on Mac support for Watch Instantly, which should be finished "by the end of the year." At present, the only devices that support the technology are Windows computers, Roku's Netflix Player, and LG's BD300 Blu-ray drive.
