Gene Construction Kit 3.0 adds three new modules
Textco BioSoftware has released the latest version of its DNA plasmid mapping software, Gene Construction Kit 3.0 (GCK). Three new modules are included with the program, PCR Analysis, Shotgun Cloning, and Database Search. The PCR Analysis module lets users select a section of DNA, choose from different amplification parameters, and the program suggests the closest matching primers around that area. The regions can also be copied to the clipboard and pasted in other constructs.
The Shotgun Cloning module assists with organizing source and target vectors into a library. After a user selects a source and defines a digestion enzyme, the software automatically creates all possible fragments and places them in the appropriate places on the target vector. All possible constructs are placed in libraries and saved to a folder for future reference.
Database Search lets users find information based on DNA, proteins, or keyword. All databases are searched simultaneously, and the results automatically formatted and combined for access from an internet browser. Other product enhancements include improved printing, and updates to the GenBank importer code. Gene Construction Kit 3.0 is available now from Textco.
