Microsoft developing Tellme search app for iPhone
Microsoft developers are working on a project that will bring its Tellme voice-activated search to the iPhone, according to CNET. The service allows users to vocalize their search terms, which are combined with GPS information to find the closest listings. Movie information, including showtime listings, can be retrieved through Fandango; sports, weather, driving and travel information represent some of the other focuses.
Tellme will be adapted for the iPhone's unique interface, probably through use of a large virtual button to initiate voice, says senior Tellme director Dariusz Paczuski. The app is also set to be one of the first Microsoft releases on the iPhone platform, but is still said to be months from completion. Paczuski promises a release before the end of the company's fiscal year, which runs into June.

MS on iPhone?
Jeez, I'd have to think long and hard about putting an app from MS on my iPhone. It'll probably grow like a freakin' vine and infect my system with bloated code. Makes me shudder.
Beefing up the Zune?
What's MS doing writing apps for the iPhone? Shouldn't their mobile division be spending their time
What's up MaCNN?
Hey, what happened to the bottom half of my post?
As I was saying.... Shouldn't their mobile division be spending their time and resources in making the Zune not suck as much?
(I think the ampersand I had in there must have triggered some html delete function or something)
MacNN Forum Codes
Yeah, I've noticed some weird behavior with MacNN's forum post parsing code. Did you know you can italicize text by surrounding it with an asterisk on both sides? You can bolden it with two asterisks on both sides, and you can bolden and italicize with three asterisks. Percent and ampersand don't seem to do anything here though...

More half-baked software
Yay, more Microsoft crap on the OS X platform... Seriously, I really don't feel like this is anything to be exited about. In light of the "fantastic" job MS is doing with Office for Mac, I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a piece of software which runs horrible on the iPhone, but runs great on Windows Mobile phones... just so Microsoft can try to snatch away a few customers... They'd be better off spending their time doing something else imo.
