MMEmail 1.1 update
Comm-Unity Networking Systems says it has released an update to MMEmail, its extension for FileMaker Pro. The plug-in lets people send e-mail directly from within a FileMaker database, eliminating the need to pop up other applications such as Mail or Entourage. The option is present for both developers and end-users, and allows file attachments.
The v1.1 update introduces support for FileMaker Server and Server Advanced, letting users send e-mail through scheduled scripts, or a web-published database. This feature is only available in the Server Edition; all versions have been updated with SSL/TSL compatibility, allowing use of secure networks such as Gmail. Variables can now be used in the merge field function, and the inclusion of a message body has become optional.
MMEmail requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 and FileMaker Pro 7 or later, and costs $35 for a single-user license. The Server Edition is only available with the minimum of a 10-user license, which costs $172.
