EyeFi cards enhanced

Eye-Fi today announced several enhancements to its products, including significantly faster upload speeds and more service options for users to choose from. The new system is claimed to be twice as fast, not only for new customers but free for current customers as well. Additional services can be added to a package, including web sharing, geotagging, and hotspot access.

For customers that use an Eye-Fi Home card, a web sharing service option has been added. For $10 a month, images can be sent directly from the camera to many of the online photo sharing, printing, social networking, or printing sites.

Users with a Home or Share card now have the option of geotagging pictures with invisible location data for $15 a month. Share card users can sign up for hotspot access, letting them upload pictures from any location with a Wayport hotspot or any other open signal for $15.

MobileMe is now supported, allowing users to upload to their online gallery to share with friends. AdoramaPix can be used to edit, share, or make prints. Eye-Fi is expanding its domestic distribution to include Best Buy, and making its products available in Japan and Canada by the end of the year. The performance upgrades and new services will be available by October 5.
