Sony iPhone Dock Quartet
Sony lived up to promises and today launched four separate iPhone- and iPod-supporting speaker docks. The S10HDiP is Sony's first iPhone-capable audio system to support HD Radio with iTunes Tagging, which flags tracks on supporting radio stations so that they can be purchased the next time an iPod docks with its host computer. It also claims an AM/FM radio with 20 presets for each band and an aux-in jack for outside sources. Sony ships the S10iP this month for $180.
Also shipping at the same time is the GU10iP, a high-end speaker-only dock. The angled system puts 20W of total power into its relatively small cabinet and has a bass boost toggle to fill in some of the missing low-end sound. It arrives with an aux-in jack for $150.
A unique twist is the CD3iP, Sony's first CD player and clock radio combo with a dock for Apple's devices. The alarm can wake to the legacy format (including user-made CDs) as well as common iPhone/iPod, radio and buzzer choices. In turn, the S4iP shares the same CD and radio functions as the CD3iP while turning away from the clock in favor of a handle and a portable design.
The two ship in late September and October respectively at prices of $100 each.
