Billings 3 released
Marketcircle has begun shipping Billings 3, a new edition of its professional invoicing software. The program contains a variety of major changes, such as a revised interface, with options for client groups and a chronological accounts view with an inline preview. The app additionally displays icons next to clients with overdue bills, which can be clicked to send out a reminder.
Users can now also consolidate and send invoices for multiple projects at once, or schedule recurring invoices. As necessary, pro forma invoices can be delivered for the sake of approval.
A menu bar timer can track hours in any application, and 18 new invoice templates are available, as are 17 extra business reports. Billings 3 is $59 new or $35 as an upgrade from v2.x, with the option of a free upgrade for people who purchased after August 1st. Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later is required.

Version 2 was like an early beta (0.x -- extremely limited capabilities), and the thought of having to pay for an upgrade is disheartening. I almost think that MarketCircle should have paid us for suffering with the product for so long. I'd suggest thoroughly examining other options before spending money on Billings or Daylite. It's not that they are buggy; it's just that the features are very limited and poorly documented (no manual) given the cost.
