BackTrack guitar recording

Line 6 has unveiled two new products for capturing guitar audio, the BackTrack and BackTrack + Mic. The BackTrack clips to the musician's belt or guitar and constantly records output from the 1/4 inch instrument cable, automatically beginning when it senses input. If the user really likes a something that was just played, pressing the 'Mark' button will put a tag on the recording for future reference. The marked section is separated and can be reviewed by pressing the forward or reverse buttons, recording up to 12 hours.

The BackTrack + Mic additionally offers a microphone with gain control for vocals or acoustic guitars, in addition to the 1/4 inch input. Signal from both the mic or line will initiate recording, up to 24 hours. An 1/8 inch headphone/line out is also provided.

Both devices record 24-bit/48kHz audio as WAV files onto internal flash drives. The content can be transferred to a computer with an included USB 2.0 cable, which also recharges the device, claimed to have a battery life of 8 hours. The BackTrack is available from Line 6 for $140, with the BackTrack + Mic priced at $210.
