Antec intros Skeleton case

Antec recently introduced its Skeleton enclosure, seemingly aimed at gamers and those who are never happy to leave enough alone. The open design of the original enclosure, combined with the 3.6-inch front fan and a huge, top-mounted 9.8-inch three speed fan, effectively renders overheating a non-issue. The top-mounted fan also sports mutlicolor LEDs below it for a disco-ball like effect on dark ceilings. A standard ATX motherboard mounts on the upper level, while a slide-out, rack-like lower level has appointments for a power supply, a pair of optical drives and two hard drives.

The Skeleton's outer frame is mainly made of plastic, while both the steel PSU and component trays slide out for easier access, and the motherboard tray is removable from the main one. The front side of the Skeleton houses the prerequisite power and reset switch, along with a couple of USB ports, a FireWire connection and eSATA port. An AC97 and HDA-compatible audio jack is also present.

The Skeleton has seven expansion slots, including room for 11-inch video cards. Antec does not include a power supply with the Skeleton, likely due to the wide variety of systems and power requirements its buyers are likely to think up.

While a specific price or release date has not been set by Antec, it is expected to launch in the next month or two and trade for between $200 and $300.
