Kenaxis Creative has announced Kenaxis 3, the latest version of its sound manipulation software. Audio can be accessed from saved files, created real time, or captured from an external source. Six loop modules and a granular synthesizer are provided to provide effects and arrange samples. Pitch, loop point, and volume parameters can all be controlled across arrangements.
Different types of crossfade are used for looping, creation of drones, or adding space between loops for creating polyrhythmic interations. The software was designed to be used for live performances, improvisation, or studio recordings.
Keyboard, mouse, MIDI controllers, USB controllers, Wacom tablets, or built in random generators can be used to control the granular and analog synths and loops. Kanaxis 3 for Windows or Mac is available from Kanaxis for $145, or as a free upgrade to registered users.
