CardScan Executive unveiled for Mac, free download

CardScan on Monday unveiled the CardScan Executive for Mac, a set which includes a business card scanner, coupled with contact management and synchronization software. The scanner itself is capable of reading 20 color cards per minute, while the software is able to take information from the scanner, email signatures, files, and more. CardScan Executive for Mac is available at select Apple Stores, Apple's website, and a number of retailers for $260.

"It was important to us to design a native Mac application that meets the high expectations of Mac customers - ease of use and truly valuable functionality,” said Pete Canalichio, general manager at CardScan. "CardScan Executive for Mac is all about productivity and helping you save time and get organized, two things our current customers place at the top of the list for why they own CardScan products."

Existing CardScan Executive users are able to download the Mac client from the company's website, which requires Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Mac download is a joke

I went to their site to download the Mac version only to find out that you can download it with one caveat. You have to own the 8.0 version of the software and the 800c scanner. I have the 700c so the site tells me I can upgrade the software. All it does is validate your serial number and give you the discount price off the new model that anyone can get. So it is really a joke! Their way of making you buy a new one scanner and all. So much for that. I will dump mine in the garbage first before I re-buy the whole thing just to use it on a Mac.
