System and portable memory maker Kingston on Wednesday introduced the 8GB Multi-Kit and 4GB microSDHC card plus USB reader, meant to make transferring data between computers, mobile devices and cellphones quicker and easier. The 8GB Multi-Kit includes an 8GB microSDHC memory card along with a mini- and full-size adapter and a USB reader that allows the memory card to be used with the majority of computers, portable electronics and cellphones out on the market.

The SD Specification Version 2.00-compliant 8GB memory card is FAT 32 formatted can be used as a full-size SDHC card with write protection thanks to one adapter, or a miniSDHC card for transferring data with the other when not used in a cellphone as a microSD storage medium. It is categorized as a Class 4 High-Speed card, with 4MBps minimum transfer rates.

A lower-cost alternative that offers less flexibility comes from the other new bundle that includes a 4GB microSDHC card and a USB 2.0 Flash reader. The reader is capable of 13MBps read rates and 3.5MB write speeds, and is supported by Windows Vista, XP, and 2000 as well as the Mac OS X 10.3.x or higher operating systems.

The 8GB Multi-Kit is priced at $39, while the 4GB microSDHC card with USB reader costs $22, and both are available now.
