Sony Ericsson photo frame

Sony Ericsson on Tuesday entered the digital photo frame market with its IDP-100 Digital Photo Frame. Featuring a 7-inch LED screen with 800x480 resolution and 128MB of built-in memory, the IDP-100 is meant to make it easier to transfer images from users' camera phones in addition to their conventional digital cameras. Images can be transferred to the frame via the wireless Bluetooth connection, a USB 2.0 port, or memory card slots for the M2, microSD, SD or MS Duo standards. Users can then control the way the images are displayed via the touch-sensitive interface.

Photos are automatically resized and oriented in either the landscape or portrait position, while the built-in Digital Image Correction software will color-correct and enhance the tone and edges of photos. A world clock with three time zones allows users to set the frame's power on and off cycles. The screen itself can be set to a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, and can be viewed from 140 degrees off-center in either of the four directions. Its brightness value is 200cd/m2, while its contrast ratio is rated at 400:1.

The IDP-100 will be available for purchase in dark grey only the week of October 27, though pricing or the markets it will be sold in has not been revealed.
