Sony A900 ad leak

The upcoming A900 digital SLR camera from Sony will come with a 24.6-megapixel CMOS sensor, an ad leak from a Danish photography magazine has revealed. The details echo earlier reports, which indicated a 24.8-megapixel unit. The camera will be the flagship offering in the company's Alpha line of digital cameras, offering a full-frame Exmor sensor. The ad also indicates that the backside of the DSLR will house a 3-inch hybrid LCD with a 921,000 pixel resolution, capable of an Intelligent Preview function which may resemble Canon's LiveView.

The A900 will also sport a dual BIONIZ image processing engine, and a viewfinder than shows 100 percent of the captured image with 0.74 magnification. The chip will allow the A900 to shoot at up to 5fps, and Sony's Steady Shot INSIDE image stabilization will be integrated. The metering mode will consist of a 9-point Center Dual-cross AF, with an f/2.8 sensor and wide-area 10-point assist.

While there are no official prices or release dates, it is widely expected the A900 will break cover at the Photokina 2008 show late in September. [via Photography Bay]
