First Look: iBiz 3, time billing, invoicing

Many professionals need to track their time for billing purposes. You could manually write down the times you start and stop a project, but then you’d still have the headache of writing out an invoice as well. For a simpler, automated solution, consider iBiz 3 to track your time and print up your invoices.

Like most time billing programs, this one lets you manually type in a project and select a starting and ending date. You can also identify which projects are open, closed, on hold, or cancelled, how many hours you’ve spent on each project, and how much money each project has earned based on your hourly rate.

One problem with working on any project is making sure you accurately track your time. To help eliminate this problem, this billing program offers a Document Monitor feature, which lets you associate specific files to a particular project. If you associate a Word document or an Excel spreadsheet to a project, every time you open those files, the billing program automatically tracks how much time you’ve spent viewing it and bills your time to the appropriate client.

To avoid duplicating data or features, this program also links with iCal and the Address Book. This lets you store client information in the Address Book and link to the billing program without typing the information a second time. If you schedule events that involve a client or project, type that information in iCal and let the billing program track and charge your time automatically.

If you store too many clients and projects, you may have trouble sorting through this information. To simplify this task, filter out only those clients with overdue invoices or outstanding balances. That way you can pinpoint exactly who owes you money and how much.

Tracking your time, clients, and projects may be nice, but you still need to present this information in a meaningful printed report. To give you a variety of options, this app includes templates for customizing the type of information you need to display. When you’ve created a report, you can review it before printing and sending it out.

As long as your clients are giving you money, you may think your business is doing fine. However, you may not know how much of your time is spent on specific tasks or what type of work brings you the most money. Fortunately, you can summarize your billing information as a colorful chart and spreadsheet so you can pinpoint exactly how you earn the most money. Knowing this information, you can focus your time on the most lucrative work and make more money in the same amount of time.

For anyone who needs to track their time, iBiz 3 can be an invaluable tool for your business. For just $19.99, this program can save you time and help you make money. Download the program for a free 10-day trial period and you can see for yourself how to make time more valuable for you.
