Novell offers beta version of next GroupWise release

Novell has announced an open beta of the newest version of GroupWise, its collaboration tool. Available as a free download, the software combines traditional e-mail and calendar functionality into a dashboard with team collaboration workspaces, and various Web 2.0-style tools, such as wikis, blogs and RSS feeds.
The new beta release offers some new functionality and collaboration tools such as a customizable, personal productivity dashboard, which allows users to create their own workspace, and a new contact management feature that helps users keep track of important business contacts. GroupWise is also said to support "hundreds" of handheld devices, with real-time synchronization of data between the server and a device. The Mac client software requires at least Mac OS X 10.3 and Java Virtual Machine 1.4.2.
