iPhone browser share up 58% from July to August
Browser marketshare for the iPhone has been driven up 58 percent between July and August, according to CNET and reports from Net Applications. This should be welcome news for Apple, as browser usage had hit a plateau over the summer before the upgraded phone was released. Since that point, usage has surged dramatically.
This has not been the only good news for Apple in recent months. The company has seen gains in Mac operating system marketshare over last year, and also for the Safari browser. Meanwhile, dominant competitor Microsoft has been losing ground with both its Windows OS and the widespread Internet Explorer browser.
