PGP Whole Disk Encryption comes to Mac

PGP has announced an upgrade to its self-titled Encryption Platform, used to provide enterprise security. The platform consists of NetShare 9.9, Universal Server 2.9 and Whole Disk Encryption 9.9, including Whole Disk Encryption for Mac OS X. The upgrades allow PGP users to centrally manage and automate data security policies for each application, as well as multiple locations regardless of where the data is.

Policy-based encryption in NetShare 9.9 can be applied to Word, Acrobat, Excel and PowerPoint documents, as well as other custom or in-house applications. The policies apply to files written to local drives, flash drives or file servers, and offline policies can provide data protection when files are disconnected or mobile, using Universal Server 2.9.

The new upgrades in Whole Disk Encryption provide support for the Mac, in addition to the original Windows support, and add keyboard support for 35 languages. Whole Disk Encryption allows enterprise users to safeguard data and set centrally-defined security policies from a single management console for both Mac and Windows clients, protecting data across multiple platforms, whether the files are locally connected or mobile.

Prices for Whole Disk Encryption start at $120 per seat for Mac and Windows, while the Universal Server is $170 per seat, and Netshare is $150 per seat. The suite is listed as available now, although the website was not fully updated at press time.
