Shuttle intros X27 mini PC

Desktop PC maker Shuttle is set to release its newest and smallest mini-desktop, the X27, according to Friday's report. The X27 will use Intel's 1.6GHz Atom chip and support up to 2GB of RAM in its single DIMM slot on the Intel 945GC chipset complete with an onboard GMA 950 graphics processor. The small PC will come with a 2.5-inch HDD, though its capacity, or what OS will be preloaded onto it, is unknown.

According to Shuttle, the X27 will use up just 23 watts of power when idle and 36 watts when in use. It promises to be quiet too, emitting just 23 decibels of noise when operating at full speed. The back panel will feature 4 USB ports, a Gigabit Ethernet jack and a DVI port as the most notable connections. Realtek's ALC662 audio card brings Analog 5.1 channel output.

The X27 is due for a release in mid-September, although pricing has not been revealed. It is expected to cost in the range of the similarly-sized and Atom-powered $350 Eee Box from ASUS.
