AT&T offers tech support for home theater, PC, TV

AT&T on Thursday announced the launch of ConnecTech, a tech support program that attempts to cover a broader base of in-home needs. Services such as home theater or TV equipment installation, PC or home network set-up, and a broad range of repair services are now offered, even for non-AT&T customers. Support can be obtained over the phone or in home, AT&T claims next day installation seven days a week.

Some of the possible services for home theater include wall mounting for televisions or speakers, concealing of connecting cables, connection of large speaker sets, connecting and set-up of A/V equipment, and programming remote controls. Computers can be installed and set-up, connected to customers' home network, configured with file or printer sharing, or setup for virus scan software protection or encryption for wireless connections.

Prices vary between specific installation, set-up, or repair packages. Computer and network installation starts at $100. Computer services and in-home support start at $180. Television and home theater installation starts at $150. Telephone support for computers or networks starts at $70. ConnecTech service can be initiated from or by calling 1-800-344-1734.
