Web Help Desk 9.0 offers cross-platform support
MacDesign Studio has released Web Help Desk 9.0, the latest update to its cross-platform support tool. The company says it added a number of user-requested features, including plug-in support for third party asset management tools, an Ajax-enhanced user interface and rules-based voting and approval for change requests. The product includes installers for Mac OS X Server as well as WIndows, Linux and Unix servers.
Other new features include "We Suggest You Try This First," which automatically recommends knowledge base solutions when a customer submits a service request. The application can trigger remote control sessions for Mac and PC users from "strategically-located screens" within the application. The new Ajax interface improves display of content searches and updates and is designed to improve the productivity of support technicians.
Web Help Desk 9.0 comes in a variety of configurations. Users can purchase a Perpetual Server License for a one-time fee, or the company will host the software on its servers with an annual contract. The application requires Mac OS X Server 10.4 or higher and is available on a variety of other platforms.
