iPhone 3G briefly sold on Fido without contract

updated 06:20 pm EDT, Wed August 20, 2008

iPhone without contract

A screenshot leaked on RedFlagDeals.com showed Fido.ca selling the 16GB iPhone 3G without a contract. The price was listed as $730. Although there was a claim of a phone being purchased from Fido.ca for that price without a contract, it appeared to be a glitch that was corrected within 12 hours from the original leak. Fido now just lists the phone with a three year contract.

There is still a possibility of the phone only option in the future, however, as Rogers (Fido's parent company) claimed to require a contract with the iPhone 3G at first, still leaving the possibility of selling just the phone in the future. No official announcement regarding if/when that will happen has been made.
