iPhone browser share on steady increase

The iPhone is currently maintaining a steady growth in its browser share, figures provided by Net Applications show. Although its share of the browser marketplace actually decreased slightly in the weeks before the release of the iPhone 3G, since the July 11th launch, these numbers have been on a continual increase, and surpassed June levels within less than a month. The last reported figures, from August 18th, show a share of 0.23 percent.

Crucially, the graph is marked by regular spikes, coinciding with weekends. iPhone browser share has typically increased dramatically beginning each Friday, peaking by as much as 50 to 70 percent higher on Saturday before resuming flatter, if somewhat elevated levels on Monday. This could suggest that a large number of people are using the weekend to buy iPhones.

right on twelvepoints. Using iPhones to look up directions or googlemap something, not necessarily new activations. What a silly assumption!!!

Or it could be all the traffic at the apple store of people playing around with the iPhones...

How about this: People don't use mobile internet browsers as much during work hours, which happen on weekdays for most. I blame easy access to desktop browsers. If I had Real Safari sitting in front of me, I wouldn't use iPhone Safari.

The concept of working hours seems to be the underlying logic for the activations on weekends theory, but then someone went and threw in activations to the logic-leaping mix and ignored, you know, usage, which is kind of what the article is about, no? Two birds with one stone, making shaky assumptions and straying off topic.
