BlackBerry Bold launches

The BlackBerry Bold will hit the Canadian marketplace Thursday, according to the sole GSM provider Rogers Wireless, allegedly carrying a cost between $300 and $400. While not a simultaneous worldwide release, like Apple's iPhone, carriers are expected to see the device all throughout this week, with Germany already offering the Bold to customers. The Bold represents Canadian company RIM's first attempt at a high-speed HSDPA device. Rogers could not confirm pricing.

RIM hopes to be well positioned against the venerable iPhone, offering users a 2 Megapixel camera, capable of both video and photo functions, as well as built-in WiFi and GPS capabilities.

While AT&T is also expected to get the Bold this week, the company has not said exactly when it would launch.
