Treo Pro Live Shots

The Treo Pro has again been spotted and reveals nearly all details of Palm's attempt at a return to form, courtesy of a discovery by community members at WMExperts. The handset is the first largely new professional smartphone from the company since hiring former Apple executive Jon Rubinstein and now shows a cleaner, sleeker device with a design based on more universal standards, including a 3.5mm headphone jack, microSDHC storage and a micro USB connector for charging and synchronizing the phone.

This additional access also uncovers features of the Treo Pro that would previously have been unavailable. A 1,500 milliamp-hour battery is allegedly in place and would give the unit one of the largest capacities of smartphones, which often have 1,200mAh or less. A 400MHz processor and 128MB of RAM lead to a characterization of the Palm phone as responsive.

The Pro is expected late in the summer or early fall and will be the GSM equivalent to the Treo 800w for CDMA carriers, standing as Palm's first-ever phone to support worldwide HSDPA for 3G access. Real GPS and Wi-Fi are also understood to be onboard the phone and are driven by Windows Mobile 6.1.
