Psystar: Shipment of Mac clones continues

updated 03:40 pm EDT, Thu August 14, 2008

Psystar defiant of lawsuit

Psystar is "definitely still shipping" its Mac clones, in spite of an ongoing lawsuit from Apple, reads a message from the company. "Recently, our sales team has received several inquiries as to whether or not our systems are still available," the company says. "Psystar is definitely still shipping Open Computing products and we've introduced our restore utilities to enhance the computing experience for our customers at no extra cost."

Apple accuses Psystar of license, copyright and trademark infringement, mainly for its $400 OpenMac system, which runs Mac OS X Leopard despite no official sanction. Unlike Microsoft and Windows, Apple licensing forbids the installation of Mac OS X on computers that do not have official branding. Psystar has challenged the legality of this point however, suggesting that it violates antitrust laws.

actually thats old news about them changing the name from OpenMac to Open Computer, becuase the name 'Mac' is trademark Apple.

I don't recommend Psystar at all, but for sake of correcting your misleading statement, the website is selling an Open Computer with Mac OS X pre-installed.

"Please pay attention to us. Our computer sales have tanked after the initial burst of orders and paying the bills is getting difficult. Since our computer sales plans have faltered, we are getting into the VoIP business to help pay the bills."

A Word of Advice . . .

08/14, 06:17pm (1 reply) reply

Scott, the fact is that the Apple/Mac experience is just not right for you. Clearly, you're a hardworking, cost-conscious, blue collar build-your-own type that just can't afford the very, very best of anything. Sorry. Truth is that you can't afford a Lexus either, but it does little more than your '62 Studebaker, right? To be sure, your Rolex knock-off is just as good as the real thing, and, after all, your mother doesn't charge you rent for your "Star Wars" themed apartment in her basement.

Keep up the good work with your PissStar, Scott, keep an eye on your penny jar, and may the farce be with you.

When every Mac update has the potential to totally brick your Mac. That sounds really compelling...

Psystar buyers

Psystar buyers are ashamed of the fact that they have bought the computer. That's why they don't show themselves.
